5 cops were wanted to restrain the best man at a Workington marriage reception after he attempted to headbutt one of their associates, a court heard. Lee Teasdale, twenty-seven, of Ling Beck Park, Seaton had been drinking at a marriage on July twenty-three when he directed 2 headbutts at PC Ruddick who'd been making an attempt to arrest him in the Gunners Club on charges of an earlier attack. Teasdale at first pleaded innocent to a charge of obstructing or resisting a constable in execution of his duty but modified his plea on the day of the trial.
He was given a nine-week curfew, instructed to stay inside between 7pm and 6am and will definitely be fitted with an electronic ankle tag. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to PC Ruddick and £200 costs for the 5 law enforcement officials who had attended court to give proof. Gail Inglis, boss of the bench, declared : “You have pleaded guilty on the day of the trial for an offence of resisting a police constable."
